Hard Starting on the 944 NA - Intermittent
I've looked through the archives a bit and i've found some possible problems, but i just wanted to make sure before i buy the parts. I have a 1987 944NA and when it starts it runs very rich until it warms up. The exhaust is downright stinky. First thing in the morning it usually starts right up, but if I've been driving it for a bit and turn it off(more often when its warm it seems) it usually takes 2-3 tries to get it started. Meaning, I crank for a few seconds...stop and repeat. I have new fuel injectors, cap, rotor, wires and i adjusted the TPS. I think my TPS may be malfunctioning...but adjusting it hasn't helped. At this point from what i've read i think its the fuel pump. Before i buy a pump, are there any other thoughts on this?

A few things to check:
Make sure you have proper fuel pressure.
Check your fuel pressure regulators.
Verify good spark
I had bad plug wires once and had the same symptoms.
Good luck!!

I verified the spark a couple of weeks ago...it was really good. I don't see any problems there. Maybe I should give the fuel pressure regulator a shot.
