hope this helps to some of you guys that need to get new tires:

I haven't ordered mine yet, but now I'm wondering if money would be better spent on RE11's or Yoko's
does anyone use Falken RT-615?
kinda sad that they didn't throw in Hankook RS3's for this test

I use the falken rt-615's and love them. Used them all last year for mixed street and DE use, and now I'm on my second set. They lasted 5 DE weekends and probably 3,000 street miles.
I have never used r compounds (like Toyo Ra1 or R888), but I have had instructors drive my car and say that the falkens felt like r compounds. I have noticed that they take a little while to warm up, like at least a few laps in the first session each day. Before they warm up, they are still pretty good, but I get a lot more squealing and push.
For autocross, they are probably as good as you'll find with treadwear of 200+, but still not in the same league as r-compounds/hoosiers due to the warm up time. This is consistent with Car and Driver's latest issue, where they tested the Falkens and a bunch of other lower cost high performance tires in auto-x, skidpad, dry and wet. I bet if they included a track test in the mix, the falkens would have been near or at the top.

I'll be taking my car to the autocross, and I want to get as close to r-compound as possible without going with r-compounds
that whole list of tires they tested is pretty good, BUT, I'm disappointed that they did not have Hankook RS3 as part of the test
I'm still debating on the tire sizes
if 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 rear - that limits my tire choice
if 225/50/16 all around - all those tires come in that size
in any case, the test seems to be pretty good, but I wonder what kind of tire would get a 10?
those Yoko's look pretty good as well
also, it appears that TireRack has raised their prices on all those tires (atleast from 2 weeks ago, or so) because the RE-11's and Direzza Z1 Star Spec's were below $120 last time I looked
The Falken RT-615 looks like a good tire, cheaper then the rest, comes in 225/50/16, might be worth a shot

Even though we have not tested the Falken RT-16 against the Bridgestone or Dunlop (we don't carry them), I would suspect after being part of that test that they won't hold a candle to them. That Bridgestione is the hardest gripping street tire aside from a Michelin Cup I have ever driven.

I have the RT-615's on the 951 and like them a lot. Great tires for a dual purpose car...yes there are better tires but for the price they are very hard to beat.
I might try the Direzza Star's on the M Coupe when its due for tires...

Don't kid yourself about getting close to r-comps at the auto x. the z1's are still 2-3 seconds behind, no matter what. I'm bailing out of e-stock because of this, AT here i come.

how wide are yer rims roman. cause i seriously think the 225/50/16 mounted on 7 wide is not going to work out well. there's alot of just sidewall that's gonna be bulging past the rim

the 245/45/16 tire choice is very limited, so I think I'll go with 225/50/16 all around
my A6 had stock 16" wheel, and 225/50/16 looked fine; the only time it was bulging is when I went to test fit a 245/50/16 and even then on that Audi wheel (pretty sure its a 16x7) it looked allright
and also prior to this, these wheels had 225/50/16
but this was all "all season" tires, not "ultra/high perfomance summer" tire
what size did you go with?
the only reason I haven't bought new tires yet is because I want to get some feedback before I spend $500-600 on a set of tires like this, especially with all these new tires coming out
and Damon - that is probably the case, I'll send you a PM when I'm ready to order a set

I had 225/50/16 all seasons on my RSX and while ok for an drive-around tire, the cornering was quite sloppy.
these are yoko advan ad08's mounted on my 944. i went staggered...so guessing might understeer some. will find out tomm.
