If we must have an Alien Ant Farm song, please not that "hear-today, gone-tomorrow" Michael Jackson song.
How about Attitude, or Good for a Woman?
Supertramp - Take the Long Way Home
Incubus - Drive
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Drivin South

I vote off Linkin Park.. it's just way too overplayed and I'm sick of hearing it..
I think this is turning into a generic "what song do you like" compilation, instead of its meaning as an album for DRIVING SONGS.
I vote for Buck Rogers - Feeder

Ok, so I shouldn't vote again, but I forgot the Offspring and it seems my AAF is voted off...
So I vote for something Offspring, gotta love their energy
and I vote for something Rage Against the Machiene.
As far as which songs, most will do... perhaps we need a second voting thread with fewer choices?
We should keep this to 1 CD, and I also think we should have flavors from as many styles of acceptable music as possable!
Classic rock, punk, metal, blues, techno... at least one of each. Then, the old guys that get this can "expierience" something different, just as the young-uns can too.
Sound good?

Although its not really a song, I've got a copy of the "What to feed a 944 turbo" comercial that someone posted a link to recently. The audio is a string quartet or quintet playing Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. The voice over states, "For lunch the Porsche 944 Turbo generally prefers Ferraris, although it has been known occassionally to snack on Corvettes..."
Its only 30 seconds, so it wouldn't infringe upon any other songs. Might make a nice opening to the CD or bridge between songs.
Its in mpeg format, so the audio will have to be extracted. I haven't done that before, but I can't imagine it would be difficult.
If anyone knows of any other small audio clips that might be appropriate you could mix the CD more like a soundtrack. I'm thinking of maybe any short movie quotes about Porsches or driving.
Just an idea, anyway.

I vote Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) OR Deftones - Passenger, both very cool songs for driving.
*edit*
By the way, does anyone know any German techno songs? I want that genuine German feel when I drive, sick of Rammstein.

My choices,
Inspection - Leftfield
Great soundtrack to a late night urban blast on a deserted streetlit road.
Hush - Deep Purple
A great song that only the most musically snobbish could resist beating time on the steering wheel to.
My rejects,
Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
Sorry, but I just can't see it staying the distance on a compilation - and I never liked the original.
I fact any shouty tubby guys in big shorts would be off... that speedy stuff screws up my timing. Can listen to it at home/out, just not in transit.
ps. I had a very agreeable drive the other evening - warm sunshine, windows down, easy pace and Toots & the Maytals cranked on the stereo. Mmmmm.
