Official Rennlist Driving Music Thread! *Last Bump to Vote*

Hmm, I am kinda digging Thursday. I like Hole in the World, and Understanding in a Car Crash, both have a nice jam.
Jawbreaker is cool too, but a little Smashmouthy.
I vote for, since there is not a snowballs chance in hell that I will get any Stevie on this compilation:
Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe
Rush - Red Barchetta
I cant believe that I actually picked 2 songs.

Did you go to warped tour to see Thursday play, I wanted to see them so much, but my a%% hole gf was pissed off bc she wanted to stay in the pit during some of the main bands. I heard they played a great show though. You are right about them having sort of a angry Dashboard Confessional sound. Although I have seen Chris Caraaba (lead singer of dashboard) get pretty into his vocals making his whole band compensate for it and really cranking out some thursday type tunes. Some other bands that I highly reccomend going to see are Student Rick and Rufio, If you dont know of em, check em out sometime.

I'm downloading a bunch of songs from both bands now...thanks for the recommendations! Did you see the MTV unplugged with dashboard confessional a couple weeks ago? It was damn good. I didn't make it to the warped tour this year, but 4 years ago I went and nearly got trampled to death when NOFX started playing from everybody running over there, and some 220 pound dip**** thought he would crowd surf and ended up landing on my head and sprained my neck . A month at the chriopractor and a couple bottles of flexoral and viccodin later I was back to normal. I saw dashboard confessional about 2 years ago, and they played at this dinky church in college park, MD with alkaline trio and hot water music...they opened up, and most of my friends thought they were lame, but I dug them. I always end up being into a band for a while, and then they hit it big and I end up hating them (well...jimmy eat world is my biggest gripe with that) but I still dig dashboard. I'm glad there are more people out there that share my strange taste in music.

I like thursday a lot, too. I never heard them until about 6 or 7 months ago, and my friend had their CD, and I was really digging it, but I forgot what the name of the band was so I didn't hear anything else from them until I saw them on MTV2.
I believe Smashmouth is a little Jawbreakery...Jawbreaker has been around since '89, and I believe Smashmouth has been around since '97. Jawbreaker is one of those bands that was destined for great things, but when they finally got signed to a major label and released their "Dear You" album, it wasn't as well recieved as their label had hoped and the band parted ways in '96. Blake Schwarzenbach, their singer, formed a band with Chris Daly from texas is the reason called Jets to Brazil, but it kind of blew. Jawbreaker still owns though.

I have to raise my hand and be counted:
DEEP PURPLE, Highway Star
WAGNER, Ride of the Vaulkyries
TEN YEARS AFTER, Goin Home
STEPPENWOLF, Magic Carpet Ride
(sorry....could not pick just two, these are all ones!)
Personally, with all the great suggestions, I think this warrants a two disk series!

Ministry - jesus built my hotrod remix as posed by timC
my 86'es:
any cardigans
i can't drive 55

well my gf likes the cardigans so i can say i've heard a lot of their songs and they all suck complete ***... as for daft punk, i think i heard a cd of theirs last year and i think it was all sythesized tinkly "soothing" music but with a cheesy beat. the kind that would put you to sleep if only you could stop hurling.
but maybe i'm wrong... if they have a song that one could actually *drive* to, then i retract my statement.
disclaimer: if you think that "love me, love me, say that you love me" song by the cardigans is something you can drive to, your opinion on the previous matter is irrellevant and you are hereby banned from participating in any musical discussions other than whether lite93 FM is better than KPOP EZ HITZ.

this is a democratic voting so no need to take back your vote....its all good.... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
acutally the only song i ever listent to from the cardigans was the GT2 song....and from my perosnal experiences, i cant listen to that song and drive at the same time....the speedo just keeps increase....
for daft punk....i think da funk and harder, faster, better, stronger would be good driving songs but da funk has no words....but H, F, B, S has song good vocal rips from a synth.
