Painting faded buttons & cigarette lighter.
Recently there were some posts on this topic. The white writing on my console buttons and cigarette lighter element had faded due to age and use - making the interior just look old.
So I recently picked up some white acrylic paint and a very fine paintbrush (the kind you would use on model painting).
I did the job yesterday. All that is required is a steady hand and some patience. The buttons were more difficult than the ciggie lighter, but overall I am very pleased with the results. It only took a few minutes, and it sure beats forking over $35 (or whatever) for a brand new lighter element!

FYI - the lighted buttons are opposite of what you think. The white is the plastic insert that allows the light to come through. You want to paint the rest of it black to block the light and make the shape if the icon you want.
I did this with some Testors flat black. After drying, knock down any high spots with a little 2000 grit paper and toss some of your favorite interior dressing on it. Looks like new.
