Brake rotor replacement instructions, please...
Anyone care to provide instructions on how to remove the front and rear brake rotors on a 86 951? I pulled the front wheel off yesterday evening and cannot determine what is holding them on. My 911 manuals talk about recessed screws but I don't see any on the 951. Any help is appreciated. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Remove the two 19mm bolts holding on the caliper. Once off you should see two #1 Phillips head screws that connect the rotors to the hubs. The fronts and rears will both come off exactly the same. Should be very simple.

You might need an impact screw driver to get these philips screws out.
(It is "drilling time" if you ruin the head)
Might be advisable to replace these, cost cant be more than a few cents.
Size: M6 x 12 cross recessed countersunk head, DIN 965, class 4.8

That works on the rear of an '86, and on the front of an '86 with '87 and later spindles. However, most likely your car has the stock '86 front spindles. For these it is more difficult.
You need to loosen one caliper bolt and remove the other, remove the front hub dustcap, loosen the allen setscrew, remove the hub nut, remove the hub/rotor assembly, remove the bolts between the rotor and the hub, reinstall new rotor to hub, repack hub with bearing grease, reinstall hub on spindle, install hub nut and adjust bearing tension, tighten allen setscrew, reinstall hub dustcap, reinstall caliper.
Kind of a PITA, but you probably wanted to repack and readjust your hubs anyways!
There may be a procedure at tech-session.com for this, not sure. If you don't have a manual, you need to at least get the torque requirements.
