Post Transmission popping out of first gear...

OK guys, since I'm not yet transmission savvy, what does the following point toward?

The transmission began popping out of first gear (rather violently) when releasing the clutch and beginning to travel forward today. It happened twice, hours (and many shifts) apart.

You gear-types have any predictions relating to this?

thanks in advance!

well hopefully its not the tranny keith, but if it is you can always snag the one out of the red car, or the extra tranny that was going to be rebuilt with the LSD from the shop....

Edit: Well maybe in that case hopefully it is the tranny and not the clutch then because we have spare trannys lying around...

Aww man, I'll just fix it - once I figure out what "it" is (and it gets to the point of being a nuisance).

May have to educate myself about trannys sooner than I'd planned...

Sounds like a bad synco

Bad synco = time to rebuild transmission

Do you have a shift kit in there? I had one in the 944 I sold and the hight would change with vibration over time, after a while it would pop out of 1st gear. My solution was: raise the hight back up and put loctite red on the threads. this solved the problem.

how does it do in third and fifth gears, if these are O.K. then it is most likely a problem inside the trans and not a problem with the shift linkage
