The 944 is what saved the company from bankrupcy...the 924 was a failed attempt at saving themself...
Thats the way I've read it anyway.

That's why I think the 968 is really the better car - I'm just partial to 951's!

The 944 and 951 have about as much in common as a Camry and an RX300. Same platform, different vehicles. I would have to say the 951 was the best bang for buck. I love the N/As, but someone will always bring up the point of them being underpowered when this conversation comes up at the watering hole. The 968 was prob the best of the bunch, but it got pretty pricy and low sales didnt help (not that sales tells you how good a car is because the public is stupid).

I'll restate this just to try and eliminate some confusion. THE RANKINGS ARE NOT...I REPEAT NOT BASED ON PERFORMANCE!!! They were ranked on their significance during porsche's history. Somebody inquired about 924's, they were in there...but i'll check tonight to see what ranking. Also, there were a few 911's ahead of the 944's, but they were mostly the newer models.

If in the hector can performance count for absolutely zilch. I applaud the effort to make it not worth as much as so many other "polls" put a premium on it, but to say whoever made this Top-100 list up and completely discounted any and all performance needs to put down the illegal pharmaceuticals. How can performance, the most basic benchmark and sales force behind the largest and most profitable sports car company ever devised, count for nothing.
Completely discounting performance on a Porsche is like rating diamonds and completely throwing out cut and clarity and only judging based on color and karat.

ACK! You beat me to the punch. I was going to get a pot going on the #1 spot. I know if it was my decision, that's the car I'd have there. 1200 HP in an air-cooled car. You oughta see the reactions I get from friends when I tell them about that beast. Anyway, I'm curious where the 959 placed. I've always had a hard-on the size of New Hampshire for that car...

if it was a performance poll do you think they would call the poll top 100 performing cars. or if it were looks wouldnt they call it the top 100 eye popping/head turning cars.
