[quote] To re-balance: move the battery to the back, spare wheel well would be nice.

A 096 type battery fit in areas behind the rear wheels, Iput fireproof expanding foam down there and cut it off at a platform (sink a tube through drain plug before you start for battery ventilation, the battery leveld out with the boot floor and can be sealed with a simple cover ( guess Plexi if you have spare left over.)

A half-sized battery (the thin ones used on Hondas) fit nicely behind the passenger seat on the floor as well. Saving you another 15lbs and lowering the C.G. as well.
Does the rear-hatch glass really weigh 83lbs? wow! What about the hood?
Here's a photo of Kelly's car at the Streets of Willow Springs before the surgery. Wonder if we'll recognize it afterwards?

KellyK,
Thanks for the sunroof info. And those Fikse FM-10s look schweeeet!! I know what they are because I got a set last week...17 x 8 in front, 17 x 9 in rear, with 225s and 245s. What are you running for widths and tires?
BTW, the whole car looks great.

I am currently running 17 x 9's and 10's with 245's and 285's. Soon to have 275's and 315's after I replace the front and rear fenders.
HEY DANNO, great shot of my car! When did you get that? BTW, its a little worse for wear but still looks pretty good after 2 years of track time. Most of the surgury was inside so not much change. I do need to have the whole car repainted though. Hope to post of few pic's soon as I get the car cleaned up. Too bad Lexan doesn't come in black tint. Thats one thing I will miss.

Adie [quote] 096 type battery fit in areas behind the rear wheels

Hi Adie. Long time no hear..
I think you have two off, wired in parrallel (or 2 off 6Volt in series).
Is this place safe? I have seen lots of bent rear fenders after a race, any chance on cracking the batteries?
Kelly: [quote] ...need to have the whole car repainted...

Now you are adding weight again
Auto Union & Mercedes polished their pre-war GP racers just to loose that little extra so they would still fit within the max weight limitations at that time. Gave Merc the nick-name "Silberpfeile"

I remember weighing my hatch with spoiler and I thought it was only 45 lb or so. I am building a lexan for fun anyway. I bought my lexan (3/32 thk)from a guy who makes aircraft windows for $300.00. I don't remember his exact name, but I originally contacted him through Apex motorsport. He is a part time guy who sells racing stuff. Post if you can't find and I will do some more digging.
I've got a few more years until the kids don't fit in back and I can put in some lightweight shell seats.
One thing I have noticed is that the people who advertise weight savings quote the weight of the item being replaced, not the difference with the new item installed.

After my rear hatch broke I weighed all the broken glass (minus the weight of the barrel)and the total was ~50lbs. Art: how is the fit of the lexan hatch to the frame? I bought a hatch from my tech and he had a similar description of the maker, sounds like the same guy
