Nothing is impossible, although quite a few things are improbable. Where this one lies is anyone’s guess - although quite a few of you seem to have strong opinions!

There were some turbine-engined cars built in the 50's. They were vulnerable to dust and expensive to build. Nice smooth torque curve, though...

I'd buy one...

obviously, amaf has never looked under the hood of a 951. if he did, he would understand why a twin turbo setup is so such a stupid idea.

I think gas consumption for the turbine cars was considered to be too high, even back in those days when gas guzzlers were normal.

I repeat, there IS a twin turbo 951.... LOL

Basically, I think it has a split manifold with dual turbo's arranged in an angular vertical/horizontal fashion... There is one for sell, i'll try to find the guys' e-mail, he is supposed to have pictures...

subaru uses twin turbo in there legacy b4 engines.....but there is a pause in the system.....after the first turbo tops out, you have a lag in between it and the second turbo....dont know why....

now there is also a after market twinturbo for the impreza (christmas is coming up guys...if you all chip in about 5 bucks, you can buy me this )
it uses 2 turbo of the same kind and has them going into the same intercooler.....they have been having trouble with this setup since both turbos want to out do each other.....i think there going with a split manifold design....

oh well..i just felt like babbling <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />

1001 hp... 0-300 km/h in something like 20s. That's what I call 'whip lashing' acceleration!

I hope you were just kidding. Twincharged cars have been around since the mid-80's. The first one that I know of was the Lancia Delta S4.

Porsche messed with twin turbo charging when developing the 951 motor in the early '80s. They had trouble with tuning and getting it to work reliably. They finally decided a single turbo works much better.

Most people are trying to convert there twin turbos to single turbos:^) We just did this to a Skyline. Here is a pic of the header I built for it.It is much easier to deal with then the twin turbos that came on the car and it will make more power too.

lol. i was quoting amaf when he said "Also, is it possible to supercharge/turbocharge a 951?" because i thought he meant either/or not both.. heh.. considering you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt.. i figured he was asking if it was possible to Turbocharge a 944.. lol..

turbotim,

yeah, those headers look sweet. what type of turbo are you using on it? looks like the stage 5 you have for 951's. BTW, i got my exhaust all hooked up, it sounds so mean. i didnt think it would sound so good. made a diffrence on spool up to.

Thanks,
Sean Bartsch
