Sold my 89 951. Bought a M3
Remember the yellow 1995 M3 my co worker has with 10,300 miles that he was thinking of selling and looks like this?
Well he isn't yet ready to sell it. So i bought the next best thing. A 95 M3 with 181,800 miles on it. But the motor has only 160,000 miles on it. Barely broken in I'm told.
Got the Astra last week too. Paid less than 12,000 including tax and $1,300 of dealer add ons. Getting 29 mpg around town on regular. Brand new car for less than 12k, and it has an Obama Warranty too. GM Card Earnings to the rescue!!
I have a set of four brand new Kuhmo Ecsta V700s 245/45/16 that I bought from a rennlister a few months back. Brand new, still in ties from tire rack. I paid just under $500 for them. Prefer local since shipping eats up the savings. Also may consider parting with my four 16x8 968 rims that I bought from Jon (TechnoDuck) last year. Again want local. Not parting with the weltmeisters yet.
Yes, I am Porschless for now. Want to make book on how long that lasts?

I love the yellow E36 M3's
there is a girl here that lives like a mile away and she has a yellow E36 too, I love watching that car take off/get on the freeway
Congrats Tom!
You picked a good year. We had a discussion on the E36's and it looks like a '95's are favored because they are OBD1's - but it was also mentioned that newer E36's might have had slightly more power then pre-95's.
Great deal!
My 3rd most favorite BMW.
They go:
1970's 2002
E30 M3

Ding ding ding!!! Winner!! Winner!!
When we moved to Denver from NY I thought i was going to have a 25 mile commute. turns out i take the light rail and bus. i put 9k on the bmw convertible in 18 months, so i sold it. the 951 became my only car, and my wife didnt want to hear the excuse that i couldnt pick up our daughter because the roll bar was in, or the Rs were on etc.
I put the 951 up for sale figuring one nice 80k mile M3 would be fine for both DE and errands.
I found this 181k car and spoke to the owner on the phone a half hour. guy is in his mid 60s everything seemed right. He bought it at 90k when it was four years old. put 8k a year on it over 11 years. has a 56 ford hot rod in the garage along with the bmw and his wife's cooperS. Cant forget his & hers bmw bikes. then there is his chevy dually pickup with 400k on the original injectors. he does his own maintenance and keeps a log book. 40k on the shocks, 3k on the tires, 2k on the front rotors & pads, 10k on the rears.
oh, he doesnt know if the clutch is original or not! He bought it with 90 and hasnt changed it. that was what put the cork in the bottle for me. a local shop estimated six hours labor and about 500 in parts for the job, and another 500 if i want to change the flywheel.
yes, panels have been sprayed, yes it is multy colored, but the vin stickers on the door, fenders, and trunk lid match. didnt look under the hood for the vin yet.
i was going to use the bmw as an only car for a few years then turn it strictly to track. while negotiating the deal the saturn dealer called and said 30% off msrp no charge for the 1300 of extras (legit close to that much - 5 windows tined, 3m bra, armrest (180 part + 1-2 hr install), mud flaps) and i could use all 2900 of earnings on it. for 11985 out the door i had to do it.

I had a 98 Dakar yellow M3 and sold it a few years ago with 22000 miles.I was in the middle of a long distance move like you and thought it would be easier than transporting and leaving it without a garage until my new home was built.I still kick myself...I loved that car.
After I got settled,I bought a 1987 944 in Summer Yellow with 48000 miles,almost the same color.I guess I like yellow.
Just curious, what does your friend want for the 10,000 mile M3?

im as curious as you. I asked him to give me a number. book is about 9k. I told him i would give him 10 as a joke. then i said 12. last year he figured it was worth about 17. the market tanked....
he is looking into a 335xi coupe, my $ would have made a nice down payment. no luck - yet. he will break one day, and i will hopefully have my home equity checks.

Nice car Tom. Love my 328 with sport pack- basically a 96+ M3 with a plain E36 steering/suspension/brakes, diff, 16" wheels, and a 2.8L version of the 3.2. In short, all easily upgraded.
You could get very lost in the aftermarket options for these cars.
The Vader seats you have are cool, too.

Great looking M3!
I've gotta say I've been giving those a hard look lately myself. There's a silver one near me for sale that has had some tasteful mods done to it that would (hopefully) prevent me from wanting to do more to it if I bought it (yeah right, like I wouldn't start tinkering with it the first day it rolled into my garage, LOL).
Congrats!

yeah these things cost now as much as a nice 951, they are well built/balanced, they have enough power and there are forced induction kits out there that are proven to work and make power; they are pretty reliable and are well worth the $$$ ... and you don't have to worry too much about them
not uncommon to see such a high milage car either, but as with everything gota make sure you get the book/receipts/maintenance proof
