Talking Finally over the hill!

And I don't mean age still a long way away

No, I'm finally putting the car back together! Got the pressure plate loosely bolted on tonight, but I got to go pick up a torque wrench tonight before I get any further. Wish me luck. <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />

The all important torque wrench! I had a friend doing a clutch on an 83 944. About a week after putting the clutch in w/out a using a torque wrench his torque tube basically fell out when he was driving.

Years ago, I had a buddy who was the first motor head I ever knew. He claimed that his wrist would click when he hit the right torque...

A few months later, he was going down the Interstate at about 80 in his 440 6-Pack Roadrunner when the pinion nut he'd tightened a few days earlier.....came loose.

Pinion was sucked into the casing, rear wheels totally locked instantly, mega-smoke off the cheater slicks... Lucky barstid was able to control the slide, and to fix it, with no serious damage to the gear set! But he did finally buy a torque wrench.

Jim, and two more cheaters to replace the ones with the flat spots... _big_ flat spots!
