Default Fuel Filter situation

I am having getting a fuel filter to fit. Okay so I am replacing my fuel filter its rigged up with a fuel hose for the inlet port. So I order a new filter for my car 87 924S. I get home and it has the same size input on both sides of the filter I think. So I go to screw it on. And the hose from the pump into the filter is too big. The screw part is too big. So my question, Is my hose from the fuel pump not the correct one or is there some fitting thats not right. Could I get a pic of someone else's fuel filter by itself and with it fitted on the car. I would appreciate it.

I think I may just be missing the fittings. My car didn't have a fuel filter when I first got it home about 5 years ago. I put on there after I cleaned the injectors and what not. So maybe the fuel filter fitting was never put back on?
