Also one thing to understand on the oil level is that the switch is connected to the harness in passanger footwell, if the wire is damaged when accessing the DME (like for chipping) it can turn the light on and as the 'oelstand' light is lit - so is the idiot light ("!").

It's good - a little high actually. I just had the HG replaced less than 500 miles ago which of course required an oil change. I don't leak any either so I don't think that's it.
I guess I need to replace that sender - the wire looks like it's attached OK. I did do a MAF upgrade and was in and out of the floorpanel but I'm pretty careful down there and this didn't show up until several hundred miles after I had closed it up for the last time.
So, does anyone have a part # for that sender? If it's cheap I may just replace it while I'm under there doing the wastegate this week...

It's not cheap. I paid €160 for mine.
Had to replace both the sender (944.613.150.00) and gasket (944.101.233.02).
