Anyone else collect Fly slot cars?

1/32 scale, highly detailed, and an active secondary market.

Lots o' Porsches, past and present.

Here are some of my 1/18ths. There's 60 in this photo. No shelf space for the other 50 or so, so I have to stick them piecemeal everywhere. On top of the stereo, on the crapper, in my office cubicle. Wherever I find space.

1/24 Bburago 924 Turbo. If Im 28, this thing has to be 18yrs old.

I sell die cast to Toys R Us but only have samples. I can get dioramas that you can put 1/18th scale cars in them and hang them on your wall. They have beamed ceilings and over 100 tools, cans, paint cans, posters displayed in them. I will order three of them to the first three people who contact me. I will send pictures of the item if you are truly interested. I cannot get cars because we only deal in thousands.
I represent Mira, Solido, Majorette and Motor City classics, the latter are Franklin Mint quality. cost $50 ea.
Majorette does make 944s but we don't import them. I would have to buy them myself and then ship them. Boxes are the problem and time. It takes a couple of months to get them from Europe. The dioramas I can get. Email me off the list if you are interested.

Wow, I forgot about those slot cars. I have about 100 different slot car bodies from a Gulf 917 to an old red gt series datsun with many can-am and indy cars in the mix. Great memories. Too bad my larger die cast cars collection is only vintage ferraris . I need to get some Porsches...but I'll probably get a set of Konis for my real life car first

The only P-cars I have, are a couple of old Radio Shack R/C cars. A 944 Turbo, looks like about 1/24 scale, and a 935 Turbo, looks to be 1/18. I have lots of Maisto and Hot Wheels, but they are all Suzuki Samurais. I would love to find a red 944 n/a (preferably with black interior) in any scale!

my brother got the entire 98 F1 lineup in 1/18, except minardi, i dont think they made one. some are hotwheels and the rest i think are minichamps. i think the minichamps were much better quality.
he has a great collection, some of my favorites are the gulf 917, the 911 gt1 evo & mercedes clk GTR, and the audi, panoz & BMW LMPs. he likes to get rival cars to complement eachother which i think is a really great idea.
he gets them anywhere he can find em, from exoticar magazine to gas stations. & the quality ranges from UT & minichamps down to american muscle. hes been dissasemling some of the plainer ones & doing engine detale painting, it really does alot for the car.
he gets mad when i tell him that if he hadnt spent all that money on models he could put a good downpayment on that 300zx he likes.

I, too, will admit to an obsessive collection of die-cast and plastic Porsche models. I have a substantial collection of 1/18's, my favourite being the Minichamps #34 904 race car (4th shelf down, right side of pic) with my UT GT-1's and GT-2's running a close second. My 1/24's include some waterbabies like a blue Majorette 944 Turbo, 2 Bburago 924 Turbo race cars and a cool Monogram 924 Gruppe B race car. The photo is about a year old and my obsession, I mean collection, has about doubled since then... I need professional help. The other pic depicts my Porsche HotWheels/Matchbox/Majorette/Misc collection. What kind of sick person lays out over 50 HotWheels cars and takes a photo of them?!? Sigh... no wonder my wife doesn't understand me!

Oh yeah, I didn't mention my collection of Datsun 240Z 1/18, 1/24, HotWheels cars... and, of course, the Miata's... plus, all of the Mopar musclecars that I have in boxes... and I can't forget the Jeeps I've collected over the years. It's really nothing a good house fire wouldn't fix!

Does anyone on here actually build models? Hasegawa and Testors/Italeri made some very nice 1/24 944 kits about 10-15 years ago. If I remember, most of the models (late) were covered, including the Turbo, S, and Cabriolet. I'm currently converting a 951 into an early N/A.(LOTS of body filler for the bumpers!)

I've thought about collecting the die-casts, but, I really enjoy the satisfaction derived from building my own (also get to pick my own color!). I just wish I could find a 550 Spyder in 1/24.

Revell (I believe) has a 1/24 scale 550 Spyder model kit out called "Competition Porsche". I think it's a RS version but there could very well be stock pieces included. It's not easy to find but they're out there! Check the eBay, there's usually some on there! Good hunting!

Upon closer inspection, the Revell Competition Porsche kit is a 356 Speedster... D'OH!

Methinks you might be out of luck...

I have a unopened model 944 Cabrio made by Italeri, the model number is 655 and I am thinking of selling it. I would love to open it to see what it looks like but I think someone would rather buy it unopened. There is also a diecast model shop here, that place has hundreds of diecast models Asheville Diecast.

I just took the leap and ordered my first ones from Auto Art (a 1:18 Lotus Esprit on special for $25) and a 1:18 Mclaren F-1 car I think from Minichamps on sale for $34. I'll take a look myself and see if the quality is worth the premium over Maisto/Bburago etc before I start adding them to my collection. The Auto Arts look to be usually $50+ and the Minichamps $65+.

Those Exotos look sweet. At $100-150 though Im not sure I can convince myself unless someone will validate their quality. They look quite nice in the photos.
