A bar is a metric pressure measurment which may people think is the same as an atmosphere of pressure (14.7 psi). One bar is 14.5 psi and some very small change.

To convert BAR to PSI:

X bar * (14.5psi/bar) = Y psi

To convert PSI to BAR:

X psi / (14.5psi/bar) = Y bar

For some reason, I'm reminded of the oil pressure gauge on my '80 Toyota pick-up... calibrated, IIRC, in units of kg/cm2... kilograms per square centimeter... ..a very useful unit for the American market...

Then there's this, gleaned from one of the sci.naval newsgroups...

"HMS UNFATHOMABLE was the former HMS FATHOM . She was declared lost in the metric
conversion process.

She joins HMS Furlong."

OK Jim, since you were asking:

I wouldn't exchange my feet for meters either.
Would be way too difficult to get shoes for them then.

Nice converter program can be found here:

Hope the link works

The link above works and the program is great. According to the program 2 BAR is 29.00754755 PSI
I will purchase it its got every type of messurement in it, from length to dynamic viscosity.
