924s vs 944
I just came back from a car show and saw a lovely 924s in excellent shape 1988. It seemed like a buy at $4,500
But would I do better looking for a 944 for reliability and resale?

There have been quite a few posts contrasting the the 924S and 944. I personally would go 944 any day of the week, you can always make the 944 to be that little bit faster as the 924S. The 924S is indeed faster and has a different 5th gear I believe. Lower drag co-efficient as well. I'm not to knowledgeable on this, so try a search =).

924S vs. 944 - No difference in reliability as the drive trains are virtually the same. The 924S has the older dash style of the 83 - 85 944's. Some like the older style, some like the newer. I have found more "clean" examples of the 924S than the 944. As for resale, I don't beleive either car will bring you a fortune at resale time. Both will likely be in the same price "ballpark". Having owned both, I think the 924S is the better value and I like it more than the 83 944 I had.
