Unhappy Intermittent Wipe?...More Like Occasional!

The intermittent wipe on my 84 NA has become very occasional in action, often needing to be prompted into action by a quick touch on the stalk (!! sounds like another part of my life!!). It would appear that the contacts inside the stalk cluster are dirty or have lost tension. I removed the steering wheel and the two s/t screws securing the stalk cover, but there is some resistance to removing the covers and the plastic wouldn't appear to withstand much force. Has anyone else done a repair/refurb on these switches or can you point me to a helpful reference? Thanks in anticipation

The contacts no longer make when the spring ball wears a groove in the plastic, the covers will flex off without breaking then there are just the three screws holding it all together, I replaced my switch for the same problem

Thanks for that - any idea of the price of a new switch assembly? NZ$$ is OK....
