Post Semi-OT...Need help from you stereo guys!

Ok so I decided to take the S2 out for a drive tonight because it's been sitting for a week. I recently swapped out an MP3 player into it, and also got new MB Quart speakers for the doors. (I have the Premium 10 speaker system)

It was fine for the first hour I was out, sounding really good and all. I stopped at the store to get something. When I turned the car back on, I heard a REALLY LOUD like screeching noise, so I shut the car off, ejected the CD and put it back in. It started playing again fine but a little down the road I realized the left door speakers were no longer working. I played with the balance and everything, when it's all the way left only the rear speakers are playing. If I put my ear right next to the door speakers I hear some static coming out but nothing else.

I have the speakers run through the factory crossover. Only the left door speakers aren't working, all 7 other speakers seem to be working perfectly. I'm wondering if maybe my crossover died or something? That's the only reason I can think of that only the speakers run though it aren't working anymore. I hope I didn't screw up these new speakers although they should still be under warranty since I just got them. Any ideas?

They are connected. Like I said until I heard that loud screeching sound when I turned it on again they were fine before that. I pulled the cover anyway and unplugged and plugged them back in just to be sure..still nothing.

If you can get to the crossover easy enough unplug the crossover & plug in some el-cheapo speaker you know works & see if you're getting a signal that far. After that test all the outputs of the crossover the same way...that'll at least narrow down the problem.
