Default What is This?

While looking for vacuum leaks yesterday I pressurized my systems.

I felt a large amount of air coming from this piece. It had gasket sealer all around it.

I'm curious as to what it is, and could it be the cause of a rough idle?

Thanks!

Looks like the back of your balance shaft, so yes and no to your rough idle. Yes, if the balance shafts are out of sync, no if you think you feel air (which is not possible realy). You probably are feeling air from the aos were you fill your oil. You shouldn't be pressurizing your crankcase.
