Post BRAKE UPGRADE 944 NA HELP?!?!?!

I have a 84 944 NA I want to upgrade the brakes.
I need some help on this.

To start with I have a set up 944S rear calipers that are good and where etra parts with the car when I got it.

I am under the impression this would be a nice upgrade over the NA setup. Correct me if I am wrong. I know the 951 setup is nice along with others, but isnt the 944S using a similar setup to the 951.

Can anyone refer me to a good source of additional parts and parts list for the conversion or advise me against it??

Not sure what all I will need and what rotors to use both front and rear. I know I will need the calipers for the front.

Well folks let me know, Help a guy out here.

The 84 was wrecked I have rebuilt it, better than it was before hehehe --->it was a mess, I am still working on it, Its 4 colors, was red before, now its primer, silver, dark blue and red. Replaced, drivers door, both front fenders, hood, and lower front end pieces, repaired damage to roof, still have to replace right rear qtr panel.

Will intend to add widebody kit, and custom touches, turbo (touchy subject around here), etc

In the process of preping a rebuilt block for use with a custom Turbo setup, yep thats right I built my own kit using a manual boost controller, Intercooler, MAP upgrade, Late model DME, Custom oil return lines, etc... still working out the bugs. The block is for when I hose the current engine.

944 S uses same brakes as the 8-valve 944 and 924 S (btw, are they the same on 924 turbo too?), except the rear proportioning valve is different. Can't remember if it was 5/33 or something like that...

944 S2 has the turbo brakes.

For starters you can probably do with fresh rotors, a set of high performance pads and some good brake fluid. It'll really make a difference in the fade resistance! I had no fading problems with my 944S after I put in a set of EBC Greenstuff pads, and apparently other makes (Pagid, Hawk..) are good too - I just haven't tried them personally so I can't comment on them.

OK thanks.

Here is a related but odd question, why is it places like pelican list teh rear calipers for the 944S for more about 300.00 more than the turbo?

Stange.

Ok so I guess I will stick with what I have for now unless I find cheap upgrades and just get some crossdrilled rotors, new pads and fluid.

Is their a need to add a valve setup as seen in the later models for proportioning?

To upgrade an '84 model to larger rotors/calipers, you have to change the spindles and rear trailing arms over to '86 and up 951 parts. After changing out these parts, you can find kits from Brembo, Baer, etc., or use the 951 rotors/calipers.

I was pretty sure that the '86 951 rear brakes would be bolt-on. All the early 944 including the early offet/late '86 with alumimun arms use the same rear pad, calipers and rotors. I upgraded my '86 944 to '86 951 by just changing the rotors, pads and calipers. The brake shoes are the same.

If you are interested, I am selling an early upgrade package for the 944. 951 front and rear calipers with pads and new s/s braided lines, cross-drilled rotors front and new slotted rotors rear, and 15" phone dial wheels with Toyo T1S 70% tread remaining. These were used for about 10,000 miles before I upgraded to Big Reds. You will need to find a set of '86 951 hubs and spindles, easy to come by. This is bolt on package. The wheels have to be a 951-part number. I tried 16" 911 wheels and they will not fit, calipers too big. I am asking $950 shipped.
