Rear Speakers? What fits?

Rear Speakers? What fits?
I am curious as to what fits in that bigger opening. I heard it is a 6" speaker but no one makes one of those so there must be a speaker that fits in there with no mods? I don't want 4x6's in there either.

I hacked down the adapter to get a 5 1/4" component speaker back there, I also made a plate to mount the tweeter where the 4x6 was and it worked out pretty well. I really only did that because i had the speakers already, 6.5's would be a better choice, if your car is 87 or later that is. the early cars are 4x6 only.

Yea i would def not advise components in the back. If anything deleting the rears and getting really nice front components would be the best option for sound quality.

I have an 1987 924S. I saw they had the 6" holes. What kind of adapter plate is needed? Where do you get that from? I might throw some cheaper speakers back there just for added sound. I am thinking about upgrading my fronts to some plates. I need to revamp my car a little bit.

Does anyone have a picture with the liner removed? How tough is it to take off the interior liner to get at the speaker. Do you have to tear it off carefully and reglue it back on? Did the speaker mount change with the 85.5 or 87 as mentioned above? Thanks!

I know lots of people have done it without doing that, but it's simply not going to go back together properly. You may be able to make it look right, but it's not going to hold up properly. And pulling the windows is cake. Putting them back in sucks unless you know how to rope a window in. And this is an easy one to rope in, so its good to learn on. Once you learn it, you'd never consider changing these speakers any other way.
