When are the windshield washer nozzles heated?

My '88 944 has heated windshield washer nozzles. Do they only get power when the defroster is on, like the side view mirror heating elements? Or are they always on?

IIRC, the heated nozzles and mirrors come on when the rear defroster strip heater is turned on, but it's been a while since I looked at that part of the wiring diagram or owner's manual.
Jim, getting old & forgetfull.. but it beats at least one of the alternatives.... 8)

that is correct Jim (for the coupes). The Cabriolets' mirrors and washer nozzles are always on, so to speak. They are heated any time the car is running. It seems that Porsche (for whatever reason) chose not to simply install a switch for it, either auto or manual.
