Understeer is that car's middle name. However, I actually had more fun (at times) in that car than I've had in the porsche. It's so lightweight and underpowered, I could push the car to its absolute limits without getting into any trouble. (J-turns in the wal-mart parking lot at 1AM were fun ;-) )

I'm too afriad to try anything crazy with the porsche, but I put that tercel through hell (I didn't abuse it, I just ran the car pretty damn hard. It's earned the name champ because there isn't a single time she's left me hanging.)

BTW: If you've got a front wheel drive car, snag some trays from mcdonalds next time you go inside. Place the trays under the rear tires of the car and put the E-brake on. It transforms any understeering econobox into an oversteer happy fun machine. Just make sure you've got _plenty_ of room.

Do it!! We just did... and it's awesome!! We just bought a 2002 Silver EX. It's the ultimate people-hauler/family machine!! Plenty of space for humans and their "things" and 240 horses from a 3.5 liter VTEC V-6!! (The drawback though is that the thing tips the scales at over 4200 lbs!!)

We have a 2 year old son... and a 2 month old son... Collin and Bradley!! We needed the extra room for sure!! I completely understand where you are coming from!!

Lesson learned: Never say never!! (I had always said that I would NEVER drive a minivan!! I can't say enough that I am very happy with this vehicle!! However, it is Charity's... I still have my two cars... a 1992 Audi 100S with 194k miles, and my 1990 S2 with 80k miles.)

Obligatory Porsche content - our new "Mommy-van" can tow up to 3500 lbs!! So... I'm figuring that someday I can convince Charity to let me buy a trailer to tow the S2 to a few racetracks...

My other car is a recently acquired 76 930 European (260hp vs. 245 for the US. version). I have to do a bit of work to her but not bad at all for 5K.

My grocery getter is a 98 Suburban

My Longterm project ride is an 80 Triumph Tr7 convertible. I got a 300 horse LT1 with a 6speed ready to be inserted.

Acccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

A TR-7!!!!

944S Boyeee saying to himself....."Make bad dreams go away, make bad dreams go away!!!"

That was my first car (not that particular one). Oh - the horror!!!

But I see you're putting a new engine in it, that should help. May I suggest a new wiring harness if that hasn't been replaced! Still love the look of those cars though. I used to get as many compliments on the TR-7 as I do on the Porsche. I also had the rare TR-8. THAT was a fast lil' car and sometimes it even worked!

By the way - my other car now is a Suzuki Sidekick. Did the whole Samauri thing also. You can't beat a Zuki if you live in a snowy area or like hitting the sand hills!!

944S Boyeee (still shaking from seeing another TR-7)

Here's my other toy.

A 1991 Explorer. It likes to go off-road.

I think nickhance has the best shot all around...Look at that Tercel go! I think I've seen more Tercels cocked way off like that while not moving than as a result of g-forces...

I'm loving this thread. "It doesn't run and I don't know where it is."

Turby: That 748s is too money.

My "other car" is my momses '95 Wrangler with 170k miles on it. 40cyl, 5spd, still runs like a chump. Ah, champ.

Hey 944S Boyeee

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad relationship with your TR7. I had my first one when I was 16 and it was also an 80 but I never got to find out about engine problems because, although it was mint with less than 40k miles, I still pulled the motor and put a 305HO from an 87 Z28 in it. I drove it for 2 years and the only electrical problem ever was a loose ground strap in the trunk that kept the taillights from working. Other than that it was a great car and most girls thought it was a Ferrari or something exotic. It was kinda quick too. 0-60 5.5sec and 1/8th mile 8.96sec.

This was how the car looked back in 90 after I painted it.

The pictures below are a TR with a Grinnall body kit. I have been trying for 3 years to find someone in the UK that bought one and never installed it but it's not coming along too well.

for a few scary weeks there, the 951 was my only ride... but last wednesday i scored a sweet '83 honda nighthawk 650. I was away with my gf all weekend and so this morning was my first real commute on the bike. damn driving to work hasn't been so much fun for awhile! no pics yet, but she's been repainted a color pretty close to gaurds red and has a 4 to 1 manifold and a harley muffler instead of the stock dual setup. the first owner was a kid who chopped some guy up with a hatchet and then ran through several states on the bike before getting nabbed.

Other car is a white 86.5 Toyota Supra NA auto w/ 76K on it. Needs a paint job really, REALLY bad. Runs excellent and never needs anything except gas & oil changes. (Except a little thing called the headgasket but I fixed that myself) Sorry no pics, but you guys know what they look like.

I sold my beloved '90 Audi Coupe Quattro 20v
*and* a Volvo 740 wagon with 5.0 V8 to buy the 951.

My daily driver has been the former 'parts car' 740 turbo wagon. But I'm driving the 951 more often now.

Keeping the transaxle theme, I also have an '88 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde. And for occasional use, an '84 Alfa Spider (with Recaro seats) which may be for sale in the near future.
