How is this possible?

So I've had my car for over 3 months, during that time, the in-dash clock light never worked. The digital readout was there, but the back light never lit up. (So no telling time at night or in the dark)
So last night, I turn the car on, and the clock is lit up as soon as I turn the key. WTF? How is it possible that the bulb is burnt out for over 3 months or more, and now it suddenly works? It was out when I bought the car, and who knows for how long before that.
Did a ghost change the light bulb while I was sleeping, or does anyone have a logical explaination?

"(So no telling time at night or in the dark)"
Can ye not tell the time by the position of the sun.
Ya big thicko.
Look Ted! The ants are back.

I tap the dash gently while mumbling her favorite pet names while turning the key to pos 2 & 3.
She then allways smiles frendly and behaves like expected: no problem (so far).
No I ain't replacing pampers before....
Talking about light: clean the connections and get the grounds done (including the ones in the engine compartment).
I suspect some corrosion there causing voltage drop.
TakeCare

Welcome to the wonderful world of Bosch electrics, where the laws of physics, probability, and common sense are defied with regularity.
So far, the law of gravity and the speed of light seem to be intact, however.
Jim, "So what's the speed of dark?"
