I spent 3 hours picking little rock bits out of my condenser and radiator (can't believe it got past the condenser!). Whether they do damage or not, they block air flow. The pic below is what I blew out of the rad with air after spraying thru it with a water nozzle 3 times! and I spent another hour with a paperclip picking out rocks that were really stuck.

Fine screen is what you need if you want to block this kind of stuff.

I use a that cheap metal screen material.

I have used it for many years and work well to keep out ruber and rock debris. Considering I have also cut out the front bar on the spoiler I feel this is impornt in limiting junk getting inthere. It does not stop all the small stuff, but all the big stuff. It also helps support the lower part of the front spoiler too.

It can deform a bit, but it is easly replaced if needed. So far in all my years (9 years track time 7 years raceing with over 100 races) I have replaced it once. I have painted the front bumper more times that than to deal with rock debris chips so it lasts longer than the paint.

I also use on on my pass side foglight hole since I have my oil cooler behind there.
