Default Prices on Late DME and AFM

With the recent discussion, I'm considering this idea, if I can find the parts relatively cheap. 250 on Paragon...

Are these interchangable with the early cars? Can a late DME and Air flow Sensor be put into an early car and replace the early DME and AFM (AFM- early w/ door flap, AFS- late w/o door flap in AFM, get me?) Heard that they are interchangable ONLY if you change both of these. Il start a new thread too.

250 doesnt sound too bad. Might be able to get them use from somewhere for less, but you are buying them new/ rebuilt, pretty good deal Id say for $250.

You can find used N/a dmes and AFMS on ebay for dirt cheap.

Yes you can use a late DME in an early car. You have to swap out the AFM as well too.

The differences are that the early AFM uses a 12v signal, whereas the later AFM uses a 5volt signal.

Many racers do this swap to take advantage of the later style chip setup that is removable, whereas the early style you have to solder in.

Not sure exactly, but do a search. I think that most companys say that their chip gives about 12 HP. Really, 12HP is alot. You want RWHP. Power to the wheels. I think FRWilk makes a chip (I think he may be on here, but definetly on Pelican Parts) for all tha cars, but the earlys, I think. If I can remember right, his chip for the N/As was around 14?, but he has done dyno with his chip, and stock, and his chip gets 2.4 RWHP (give or take a few tenths). Do a search on here orPelican for FRWilk chip, or look up FRWilks past posts on his chps. Another make for chip is Russel Berry (a.k.a. rberry, someone help me on names here) He makes chips too, could be same guy, or related. Both chips are talked many times on both forums.
