Wheel offset 85.5 NA
Hi
Does anyone know the offset on a 7j15 phone dial mag, that are off a 85.5 944 NA. All so does anyone know if 8 inch mags with 225/50/15 tires will fit with no problems.
Regards

Tas,
The answer to your first question is as follows: 7X15 phone dials from an 85.5 944 should have a 23 mm offset. On phone dials the offset is stamped on the inside of the wheel.
The answer to your second question is, "It depends." What is the offset of the 8" wheels?

Yeah, the 8" Phone Dials came in both early 23.3mm offset and late 52.3mm offset.
One thing I've wondered about is that the '86 944NA and 951 both use the same early offset of 23.3mm. But these cars left off the rear 21mm spacer that the earlier cars had. This created a wierd effect where the rear wheel was inset into the fender-wells about 1" deeper than the front.
Does anyone know if the '85.5 944NA has or doesn't have the rear-wheel spacer???

Danno,
This doesn't necessarily answer your question, but I assume that the 21 mm spacers were left off of the '86 models in order to accommodate the 8" wheels standard on the new '86 turbos.

Danno yes the 85.5 don't have the rear wheel spacers, and the rear wheel are tucked in more.
I think i will run 8 inch 10.6 mm offset mags with 255/50/15 tires.
