Unhappy HELP! Fan won't shut off

Got home, pulled in the garage, 20 minutes later the fan is still running. I am on the verge of disconnecting the battery.

Pulling the fan relay in the fusebox would be the easiest thing to do to disalbe the fans.

It *may* be your fan switch. The fans can run at low speed with the car off at the whim of the fan switch.

Thumbs up

It sounds like the fan switch in the radiator is bad. Could be the relay but the switch is most likely

I'd also go with the fan switch as most likely suspect - my friend's Corrado exhibited the same behaviour.

OK. Pulled the fuses and caught my mechanic still at the shop. About $150 parts and labor to replace the switch and, if necessary, the relay.
Question: Can I just reinstall the fuses for the drive to the shop? I can't think why it would be a problem, but...

I had the same problem about a month ago. It's actually very easy to fix if you can get the car up in the air. Pelican parts has the cheapest price on the thermoswitch......only about $26 or so parts plus shipping. If you can get the car up in the air, simply disconnect the battery, drain the radiator, disconnect the wiring plug from the switch (located at the back of the upper driver's side of the radiator), unscrew the switch (it helps to have a socket wrench with an adapter so it can bend 90 degrees), screw in the new switch, attach the plug and battery, and refill the radiator. I did this with a friend who's a mechanic..... but no expertise is really necessary, just the right tools. It took less than an hour, and only cost $26. I hope this was helpful
