Have you painted the lever on your door handle??

The tops of my door handle levers on both sides of the car have worn gray with age. Has anyone here ever tried to repaint that lever? Would I just use a flat black or is the lever anodized? Would it be easy to go to the Volkswagon Dealership and buy a new handle and just change out the lever? Thanks for any help or words of wisdom

Josh,
Not sure about painting, but a V-dub handle will NOT work. While they are nearly identical appearance-wise, the internals are totally different.

Do not waste your time with it. I painted mine only to see the paint chip away (primer, paint, and clear coat). Maybe better to anodize it... or upgrade to the 968 style door handles.
