So how are you going to fix it? Is it a major problem? Because my 924S has the same thing on the right side except you can tell where the seam should be because theres a dented line across it.

The early header panels were welded to the chassis - not the fenders. The fenders were still removable.

Also, the headlight washers are supposed to be black - yours were painted over when they did that front body work.

Yeah. I knew the car had been wrecked when I bought it.

I have no real plans to ever make this a super clean example of a 951. Mostly just a Auto-X toy and playful commuter car.

I am one of those totally obsessed project car guys that must change everything on a car anyway. I have found that in some cases it pays for me to start with a car that needs love, that way I am not having to toss or sell good parts.

This car has well over the $1,500 purchase price in performance goodies hiding under it. (if they all still work).

Should be a fun project.

And FWIW they painted over lots of stuff....mirror gaskets, rear bumperetts, etc.

I know, I know. How sad is that. It was in the car when I got it. Such a tease too being a Momo.

Think the wood wheel will become "garage art".

Did you notice the sweet red dash panel too? (the new black one is on the way)

Or how about the sweet Nissan 300zx seats. The drivers seat must have weighed 160lbs.

I could make fun of some of this stuff on this car all day. Half the fun is transforming it into something worth looking at.

The Nissan seats lasted all of about 3 hours when I got the car home. Car will slowly start to look like a real Porsche again.

I will totally take the steering wheel. I think it looks nice, and the current momo is black and everything else is brown. Needs fixin'.

I would happily trade you if you have a decent black Momo. Any pics?

I'd like to see more pictures of it - I love project vehicles! I'm getting close to getting mine completed and have turned my attention to the interior.

That interior is pretty rough - are you keeping the interior black and grey/beige (not sure what the name is of that color is)? If so, I will have some interior parts for you. I'm in process of changing my interior over to black/linen and will have a split-back rear seat and center console available soon. If I can find some perfect condition front seats, those will be available too. I may even have a black center console laying around if you're looking to change to black.

For $1500 you did just fine, IMO.

What are those black seats that you put in???

Curt, I may be interested in some of that stuff depending on price.

I did a headliner for a classic Chevy Crew cab build with "micro-suede" (generic version of Alcantara basically). Turned out great and pretty simple to do. Fairly cheap too. I was thinking of doing the interior of this car in a two tone Alcantara/micro suede. Not sure how difficult the angles are going to be but looks pretty simple (so far). I will keep you guys posted when I get around to that part of the build.

The seats that came in the car were so bad that I had to throw something at it quick. After searching ebay and various seat sites I decided to go with an enexpensive seat to get by with at the moment. (no sense throwing $1,500 of seats in a car that does not run yet). These are "Scorpion Racing" seats from Checker Auto(Kragen I think in other areas). They were a whopping $150 each and are nearly bolt in. (Okay, I did fab some stuff and there was welding involved, but it is what I would consider nearly bolt in). The one harness is a left over from another race car I had. (that is why it is blue and not something that matches better).

I'm 6'2" and long in the torso so I was worried about some of the other "mail order" seats being too tall. These I could sit in and measure in person. The texture of the "leatherette" matches the black rear seat perfectly (almost in a Twilight Zone sorta way). .

I have 3 other project builds going on right now. Once those are under control I will revisit the 951. But until then, I just want it to run so I can have a little fun with it.

I'll get some more good pics of the car up soon.

Here is another interior shot. VERY sun damaged. (and paint from PO).
