A few more details will help diagnose the problem. When it doesn't start, is it not turning over at all? Does it turn over normally but just not fire up? Have you pulled out a spark plug when it doesn't fire to smell and make sure there is fuel in the cylinder?

Hello,

I had a similar problem with my 87 NA. The engine would crank over fine, but would not start. It turned out that the connectors between the speed and reference sensors and the wiring harness were bad. I safety wired them together and all was well.

As the connectors get old and brittle, they crack and don't connect well.

good luck,
Barry
