Post down and dirty : 968/993 mirror conversion for dummies

hello,

i've noticed several of you doing or wanting to do mirror conversions. all you will need is the mirror assembly from a 993/963 COMPLETE, that is with the motors intact and known to be working, and preferably the wire ends coming out of it to work with... all the wires splice into the corresponding wires for the 924/944/951 series. you will also need the gaskets for the mirror bases, and hope that your paint isnt faded or the whole thing is going to look funny. but basically, the mirrors are the same, installation is a breeze.

have fun!

So you're saying there is no way to use the electric innards from the 944/951 mirror assemblies and keep it low-buck?

?

perhaps, i beleive they would fit, however it looked to me as the whole mirror was used to convert my buddies 951. the only difference was the clip holding the egg-shaped mirror, but it did look like the innards were the same, not too sure about the bolt pattern.

if that is true all you really need is the mirror housing, and mirror with the backing itself.

NOTE: the mirrors on his 951 came installed, but the P.O. DID NOT CONNECT THE WIRING, so in a few hours we had figured out what was necessary to complete the job, and now he has power heated mirrors again.

good luck you guys!
