Default ok guys...voice ur opinion and help with some advice =)

so ill have my bonus here shortly so ill have some surplus cash to blow.

1st...do i spend $1800 on a 87 AE86 true GTS with the LSD rear and MPI (excellent super good condition...and i could turn a dollar on it if needed)

or an 88 starion SHP model (i sold mine a month back) for 2250?

both cars run and drive, good inside and out (starion just needs a lower valance)

the reason for another car is, the 05 g6 gt is getting tired and it is my dd, so ill need to church it up overtime. ive had it since it was born, and never needed to change a filter, plugs, wires, alternator...nothing. I changed plugs to be safe...but other than that ive only had to change the oil in it. and its putting along at 90,000 miles

2nd.
the 944 is slowly coming together. however, with all the plans i have for making it widebody and such, it would still be an N/A. I would like to find a turbo s motor and ecu with harness to just throw in there...but i doubt its that simple, as i would probably benefit from a 951 transmission as well.

so do i do all this to the 944? or just finish it up, sell it and buy a 951 and widebody it? lol all the 951's i see are well around 10k...and i can think of a few other things i would spend 10k on haha

I miss my old Conquest...cool cars.

I can't help much other than saying I love driving my 951 way more than either of my old N/As, my old Conquest TSI, or anything else I've had. If your turbo your 944 or get a 951 you won't turn back

you can defienetly get a 951 block that needs work and a 951 LSD transmission

or a 951 LSD and axles/shafts everything else that you will eventually have to buy anyways - except for the block; and buy the engine at a later time

lastly, I love AE86, but I think I'd spend the $$$ on the 944

Question 944 or 951?

spoolinturbo,

Hard decision. Doubt this will help much. I think in the long run that you are going to spend the same amount of money to obtain your goal. The only difference is going to be the time you spend, what you learn, and how much you want the car to meet your specs instead of the specs of somebody else. Break it down to firm parts cost and see what you have compared to what you REALLY want, then evaluate the value of your time. If you are using tools at the base hobby shop, that is a plus, if not, evaluate the cost of tools. Add it all up and then make a firm decision that you can live with that is not an everyday headache, such as repairs and continued upgrades. A good Porsche is worth the time, effort & money. Don't know what else to say - Best of Luck!

yea well i would buy a stock 951 but i want a stripped and light 951...and i cant see myself to doing that to an already hard to find vehicle just for my purposes u know? so i think ill just make a hybrid haha. what im going to do is get the fiberglass front end and dash personally from broadfoot, install it and the gauges which should take a few weeks.

hopefully by then i would be able to track down the manual sunroof latches off ebay or something, cause i have yet to find any =/

then ill find some 996 wheels which will close up my 2" gap.

get a 951 drivetrain with axles, is the driveshaft different from a NA 2.5 to a 2.7 turbo?

once i get that, and source an engine and ecu, ill pull my engine out, spray the whole car and engine bay kandy apple red, and install the new one. ive been making friends with the local porsche performance shop, so maybe ill have them install the motor and tranny as they have all the equipment i wish i had haha
