944 custom map pocket & speaker pod
After tooling around with fragile factory speaker enclosures and map pockets I gave up and decided to make some of my own. I wanted to make map pockets that could actually hold something other than lint and speaker enclosures that could be sealed.
The speaker enclosure is made from 16mm MDF and as expected it improved the quality of the front speakers quite a bit. The map pocket is a little wider and deeper and lined with speaker carpet so that stuff doesn't rattle around or slide around and they seem to work quite well for holding keys, cell phones, sunnies, MAP programmers etc.

Nice job. What is the package tray made from? I like the install although the pachage tray looks a little too boxy for me. Also, I would have mounted the tweeter above the window switches (stock tweeter location) as it allows better imaging. I like the job you did though, Congrats!

The map pocket is made from masonite and covered in vinyl. I realised that if I wanted to make it a more curvy design I would have to use fiberglass or carbon fibre but since I decided to make it from glued and screwed timber I was more constrained - (my wood working machinery and I are presently separated by several thousand miles.)
Good point about the tweeter, I guess I can relocate that when more important jobs have been taken care of.
I made the whole thing black because I wanted contrast.
Thanks for the feedback.

looks good. I asume that the speaker pod does not come in contact with the side of the dash. what were the materials used? Was it easy to do?
