The clutch petal must have only 2mm of free play. Can only be judged by feel.
Haynes has the procedure. Move seat all the way back. Crawl in car on your back under the dash. Have a small LED flashlight, 8mm and 13mm wrench. Loosen 13mm nut on shaft in front of clutch MC. With your fingers or 8mm wrench adjust shaft the distance to make the petal only move 2mm before feeling resistance. Tighten 13 mm nut. Crawl out and take Excedrin.
