Talking Audio Systems

If anyone is an audio freak like myself, I found my 944 to be a great car for a high quality sound set up. The acoustics (sp?) on these cars are great. If anyone is interested I'll get you any info (speaker box specs, components, subs, amp hook-up, head unit wiring- whatever)

I would like to get some new stuff. I traded my Pro-America 400W amp and 10" Procomp Audiobahn in a bandpass box for an '87 Celica GT-S, then sold the GT-S for a heafty mark-up. I am trying to find that box enclosure that goes over the back seats. I guess I want two 12's, what would you suggest with what amp? I guess I'll need some tweets also, what you say about those...?

I concur with these statements. The car is small inside so the sound quickly engulfs you. Didnt even need an amp to power the head unit. The Sony (see signature) is one loud mother by itself. Prob. wouldnt have worked in a large 5 passenger car. Ran an MTX for solely the Boston sub and it worked out perfect. Any louder and I cant concentrate on driving which is fairly important.

A nice set of plates in the front a sound nice and handle some decent power. I decided to go with a single 10" Infinity Perfect and a Fosgate 400S mono block amp (400Wx1 RMS @ 4ohms). I really would like to hide the 10" as it sits in the rear with a Q-logic box. I was thinking it would fit in the spare tire? I've already seen the special box for an 8" that sits in the side cubby's, however is there anything else out there? Who out there is running 6.5's in the doors? I'm interested in building the housings for 6.5's in my doors as well and moving the plates to the rear. If you are running 6.5's in the doors please post pics as i'm interested and I'm sure many more on the list are as well.

If you wanted, I could design for you a box that would fit in the spair tire area, or fit in the rear cargo area snugly. I think a single 12" sub in the spare tire would sound good. I will have to measure and see how much air space is back there.
This is what I have on my 951: Front and rear 4x6" Cadence speaker plates, cadence tweeters above and to the side of your head, and a custome subwoofer enclosure with two ten inch MTX 600 subs in the rear seating area. Sounds good with plenty lows and lots of rear cargo space.

Yes please post pics very interested!! As long as it doesn't rattle we are all good. I just bought a Infinity Perfect 10" sub so I will need a 10" box with ruffly .6-.65 cubic feet of area that will fit in the spare tire area. Looking forward to your reply.

i needed .7 ft^3 for each of my subs. i did not have enough room to fit a box into the spre tire area, so i had to use my spre tire area as a box. i made a top,and side out of wood. the side went next to the wall closest to the front of the car, since that wall was weak(i was reinforcing it). i also devided the box into two seperate sections, one for each sub. there is also peices of wood, a few inches deep, that screw into the top, which are on the sides that run parallel with the lenght of the car. these peices make it easier to seal the box. when i was ready to seal it, i used silicone caulking. i used two tubes of it. the box has no air leaks. for the hole in the bottem of the spare tire area i went to the local hardware store and bought a peice of plastic, in a circle shape, that is meant to plug holes. i wish i took more pictures of it when i was building it.

i added a pic of my door panels, which i cut to add 5.25 inch components. also a pic of some nean lights around my subs.

for more pics of my car go to <a href="http://www.sounddomain.com/id/porsche_9_4_4" target="_blank">www.sounddomain.com/id/porsche_9_4_4</a>

Alpine 6.5" coaxial rears

Just hooked up my Fosgate amp to the Q logic box and a crunch sub. The sound quality is pretty amazing. The 4x6s just CANT provide the bass that these cars need and the single 10" filled that gap nicely. Just can't wait till I get my nice 10" in the mail!
