Maybe for a small slow autocross course with no closeby solid objects (telephone pole, wall, parked cars) it would be OK.

Lapping day on a track, no way, there are other cars, potentially off course barriers. I'd rather be in a stock seat with a stock seat-belt than a stock seat with a marginal harness setup and harness bar.

I assume you'll keep your three-point OEM belts in. Your call, but I would use the 3 points on track. Speeds on track (not just racing) are too high to risk using a cobbled-together 5 point system. PCA is really strict and clear about harnesses on track (not racing -- any use on track). No 4 point harnesses, just 5 or 6. And no harnesses unless the seat is designed for them, meaning shoulder pass-throughs and sub-belt hole. There is a reason for these rules. It makes it expensive, since it requires a double investment in seats and harnesses; and then you have to give your instructor equal safety, so you need another set of harnesses! And then the harnesses expire.

::sigh::

well, that being said... what is a recommended seat for mainly DD work but with proper harness capability?

I can't buy new seats outright, but I CAN sell these and get different ones (although the heated-*** is really nice on some days)

edit: I would very much keep the OEM belts in for street use. Cops frown upon harnesses

Do you or anyone else know what model Recaros those seats are? They look like the Style seats. Didn't know those were heated though; heated sounds nice.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. If you decided to sell let me know, I might be up for a new pair of seats.

I just looked them up on google.... I'm very very VERY surprised how much they cost. Also explains why they are so damn comfortable. I drove 1300 miles in two days with no problems. I could have turned around and drove right back without issue.

I think we need a group buy on some fixed-back racing seats

I personally would prefer ones that can tilt forward at least.

How 'bout putting velcro loops on the seat and wearing fuzzy pants?

I hear your frustration. Kirkey seats are pretty cheap, but not that comfortable... GT3 seats are very comfortable, but not cheap. (But, I have to say, the GT3 seats are absolutely worth it - especially for a daily driver where you'll be using them a lot! And, because the cushions are velcroed closed, it's very quick and easy to put heating elements in them... Ask how I know! )

Just my 2 cents.

Van, you got me thinking. If I can find a seat cheap enough I can get them to swap in for track days.

I do have one of those Jegs molded plastic seats I use for the playstation. I could just bolt that in
