Haha, Peckster, you funny.

The rest of you take it easy on the kid - these kind of things really scare you when you are young... <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

I'm glad I decided to check out this thread!

Ok, let me note something, as I said the guy told me to turn the a/c and fan on. When I pushed on the gas, the temp would drop to the first marker, when I stop at a red light, the temp would go slowly to the second marker. Is this helping in the process?

Also, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I'm 18, not familiar with the mechanics of fixing cars, what do you expect. I post to get some feedback and help like most of you do, and the only thing you do is comment with stupid remarks. The only thing I'm asking for is advice. Don't make it seem as if it is that serious. IT'S JUST ADVICE.

How about a bike.

Make sure you get one without a derailleur so you don't have the devastating disappointment of the chain coming off!

Get a clue.

You spoke to someone online, he told you where the fuses were and what you needed to do (replace 2 fuses). DO THIS. Look it up in the table that is in the fuse box...find out which 2 are for the cooling fans. Look at the back of those fuses...they will probably say 15. That means they are 15 amp fuses...if more than 15 amps of current flows through...they blow. So, go to the auto parts store with the old fuse and say I need some of these. Take those new fuses and replace the cooling fan fuses...

You can whine that nobody is helping you, or you can take the suggestions that have been given to you and apply them. So far, you've chosen to whine a lot.

That Honda must be sounding better and better....very reliable cars too! To own a Porsche you need to be:

A: rich enough to pay someone to maintain your car
OR
B: savvy and patient enough to work on it (still helps to be rich)

which category are you going to belong to?

Get the manual....logically eliminate one step at a time working parts of your cooling sytem....replace what ain't working

alternative: shine up shoe leather

We're just having a little fun with a newbie. Welcome to the wonderful world of DIY auto mechanics, you have to start somewhere.

I think what most people are objecting to is your apparent reluctance to make a real effort to follow their advice. You said your father was talking BS about your car, but he managed to get your hose replaced. Sounds like you could learn something from him...and a Haynes manual.

Put in a low temp. tstat. and low temp. thermoswitch. If everything else is ok that should be the end of it.

I never get past the first field on the temp.
gauge.

A lot of the people on this board are really passionate about these cars, which is why they're here. If they're getting serious, it's because they're afraid you're going to destroy your engine (no exageration) by driving the car without enough coolant or some other problem. These cars are rare and wonderful, it's a shame when they are neglected or abused.

Stuff wears out, stuff breaks: it's the second law of thermodynamics at work. Every car needs maintenance. These cars need a little more.

My advice: fix the car BEFORE you drive it anymore.

I agree- almost as good as the wife/ girlfriend thred. AMAF- I have owned my Pcar for over 3 yrs and 36+K miles. It is a daily driver. they are very reliable and fun, but with women they can bite you when not looking. 2 words: Preventative Maintenance. I have worked on my own cars for years b ut still seek advice from these guys who are all concerned and willing to help. Steal a cigarrette, relax and BEG, BORROW OR BUY a manual

Cheap insurance. Maybe you can help someone else on the road one day.
Pay it forward.

Ok, I tried to check the fuses today, but no good, I couldnt find the diagram and every store was close because of fourth of july. So, we tried to retrace the steps of the cooling system. We might have figured out the problem. The radiator was to the maximum capacity, so we turned on the car, and we pressed on the water hose, and we felt no pressure from the water at all. Their was no sign of water running through the hose, so we figured it to be the thermostat since it's located at the end of the pump. I'm going to take the car to the mechanic as soon as they open, and replace all the fuses, and thermostat. Does it seem like the problem has been figured out?
