Post OT: LA Auto Show (GTO and EVO)

Well some of the upcoming production cars are showing up at the LA motor show, two that I find interested the GTO and the EVO...

The GTO is a lot better looking that I thought it would be and the EVO is sort of lacking (but I think the EVO VI was the best looking of the bunch anyway). I may not like GM cars, but I think this is a good move foward them, and even though I think the styling on the EVO could be a little better I'm happy to see it finaly coming state side. Soon we will have 3 AWD pocket rockets, WRX (and the STi), EVO, and the VW R32, keep them comminng....

Yeah, they managed to not screw up the GTO... amazing! Looks just like the Commodore to me, except the front end - minor restyle at that. Still would rather have the EVO or the STi WRX, though, personally! Of course. Then again, that Commodore is very sweet... we had one here, neat toy, absurdly practical...

The GTO looks like a freshened Grand Prix...I learned my lession awhile back with a Trans Am...NO MORE GM anything! I am sure the LA car show was much beter then the Indy auto show...Not even the new Viper here!

The GTO looks boring as heck. I mean, come on, it's completely vanilla. There's not a single interesting curve on the whole car.

American car "design" is at an all time low. well, maybe not all time, the mid 70s was pretty bad.

The GTO is made by Holden in Australia, I think down under it gets a much more powerful engine though.

Isn't the GTO supposed to have 350 hp or something... not too shabby!

The GTO looks like an odd cross between a Monte Carlo and a Grand Prix.

The Evo just looks "girly," not as agrresive or sharp as past Evo's.

Yep the good old LS1 motor is stuffed in there, 350 hp, and 375 ft/lbs. And they are fitting it with the corvette 6 speed, and big brakes, all fairly impressive. Again I think it is progress we are looking for, and this is a step in the right direction, I know when they hit the dealerships I'll be going in for a test drive, but then again I make a point of trying to drive just about everything performace oriented that I can get my hands on...

EVO VIII should be available this month.

Im SO glad they decided to keep the FMIC. I was really worried US crash standars would force mitsu to move it to a side mount. This very well may be my next car(depending on funds of course). <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

I couldn't care less if they strapped a jumbo jet engine on the roof, they are all appliances.
No style, no imagination, sterile like your toaster.
Unless it looks like this.
