Post Cariolet Owners- A body question

I'm going to look at a 1990 Cab that was hit in the rear quarter and door. Is the rear quarter easily replaceable? Or is it part of the rear tub like a coupe? Any ball park ideas on how much to fix a good shot to this area? Thed car is supposedly otherwise good with 35k miles on it and been sitting for about 5 years. The girl is asking $2500 for it.

Thanks Everyone,

John

The rear quarter panels are replaceable, but not by a novice bodyshop. There is some cutting involved at the back of the doorsills.

The important thing with cabrios is that there is no frame damage. If the frame is hit, they're extremely hard to straighten back to original specs.

A car that's been sitting for 5 years needs a lot more checked out than the frame/bodywork, though. Read all you can about these cars before jumping in. Even $2,500 can be too much money for the wrong cabrio.

I had rear quarter damage to my car, and the bodyship didnt cut or weld anything, they just popped the collision back out into place like brand new.

Hi v944god, this is a 944 cabriolet flyloki is talking about <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> . The quarter panels are set up differently from the coupes, due to the reinforcement plates used in the cabriolet chassis.

all thoes details can be found in the factory service manuals.. don't have the eact pages/sections, but there is quite a bit of information on body repair for the cabrio.

&gt;they're extremely hard to straighten back to original specs.

not necessarily, these days.

Was dented in about 5" all along (guardrail), but when the shop was done it looked perfect.
