I use Redline forget which one. I mixed one part shockpoof redline with the tranny fluid and it shifts really nice now.
I had swepco in it before and it would grind in second gear in the winter with colder temps then I changed to redline a year ago and haven't grinded going into second gear once so I really like redline.

The 944 has been around 25 years and nobody knows what lube is good or bad; so just do what you like!

well grinding can't be too good for the transmission so if it stops grinding then its good.
I'm not too worried about the transmission it's easy to replace and fairly cheap to buy a used one.

MT-90 is designed as a GL-4 lube...specifically without the FM's that cause too much "slip" for proper synchro engagement...I would question the Porsche shops advice on this. They are wrong IMHO. Maybe they were referring to the Redline 75w90 which is indeed not optimum for transaxles in the 944...
