If a 944:

Hesitation at high RPMs = fuel starvation.

If a 944 auto:

Fuel starvation and/or bad automatic.

Bad CV joints: Clicking in time with the wheels while turing slow tight circles. Some report a low rumble in time with the wheels right before one of the axles falls off.

Andre, add the model and year of your car to your signature lines in the "my profile" section.

Bad CV will give clicking while cornering at first.
The crunching / grinding sounds will follow just slightly later. If ignored, the big bang will end things.
At 5000 RPM there is sooooo much power, bad CV's wont be capable to slow it down.
Hasitation at 5000 RPM must be something else.

I have a growl coming from the location of my dirver side rear CV joint. I was hoping it is the CV and not the bearing . . .
If I ever get the interor back together, that is next on the hit list.

Hesitation and stuttering at 5000 rpms?

Could be lots of things, but check your cap and rotor first, then your wires and plugs.

Take the cap off and look inside at the contact points for the rotor. Cheap repair and worth doing as preventative maintenece if they look nasty.

-Z-man.

PS: Yeah, bad CV-joints won't cause any hesitation, but once they fail, your car will hesitate to turn. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
