Hell, soild lifters came standard on alot of the old muscle cars.
If any one wonders why there are so few 302 Camaro's left it is due to the fact that too many people pushed the envelope alittle on power shifts. I mean trying to hit 9k with a small block. (you could if you were really lucky and stupid)

Yea it is a SBC. If you can find a real DZ or MO 302 I would highly advise against using it however as those engines are worth some big $$$. But if you can find a 327 block and a large journal 283 crank you can make your own 302.

Yeah, he's a good guy. He's a little bit of a salesman, and might be a little keen to sell stuff you don't actually, strictly speaking, *need*.
( I don't, for example, think that brakes that will already lock up the wheels are 'insufficient'. Once the wheel is locked up, the control surface, not the rotor/pad contact, is the weakest link.)
...but he is knowledgeable, friendly, and obviously cares about doing things right.
Overall, I was favourably impressed.
