Transaxle rattle has gotten REALLY loud.

Default Follow up.

OK, I had the car up and was doing some amateur diagnosis. There is definitely a lot of play in the driveshaft. With the rubber viewport covers off the front of the rear "pumpkin", I could look at the torque tube coupler. First, I was astounded at how clean it was in there! Like a hospital operating room.

The coupler looked good but if I rotated the tires by hand, with the car in 1st gear (not running) the drive shaft clearly had about 1/4 turn off slop before it hit the hard points.

Does that help the diagnosis?

I'm setting up a shop visit but I'd like to be armed with info.

Ha! Old thread. Turned out the rubber puck on the clutch was done. New clutch installed in car. Much money removed from bank.
