Question Will 996/968 steering wheel fit on 951?

I've come across some airbag steering wheels out of 996/986s lately and being in the market to replace or update mine, am would like to know if they can fit to an 88 951 with airbag. If any one has any info., I'd really appreciate it.

Daniel

I thought it would be a good idea though.

I am currently trying to find a way around that. I have a 90 S2 and I bought the RUF airbag wheel. It did not fit. I then purchased the Boxster S Three spoke wheel and did not fit either. The spline is different. If someone could machine a spline adapter we would be in business. The airbag connector is the same.

Good to know. Any idea how much a machinist would ask for such a job?

If one buys the Momo 5 mm spacer for the steering wheel that should be able to change to the correct spline by someone good at thos sort fo things.

According to Tony G on the 968.net boards it changed in 87. I really hope someone comes up with a spline adapter. Someone on this board has to be a machinist. It would be an adapter just like the momo adapter. If anyone is interested I have a 993 steering wheel laying in my garage. You could have it as long as I got an adapter at a discount. Let me know..

Also, wanted to add that the airbag connector for all these wheels is the same. The only problem I had was the spline and the little connentor for the horn. C'mon someone, please come up with a solution. I have the 993 steering wheel waiting....

Someone speak up. Maybee you have a machinist friend that works for beer. I brew my own and could throw in a 5 gallon batch of his choice....
