Balance shaft belt question
I am doing my belts for the first time and have a question that is not answered in Clark's garage.
The balance belt idler has a wolowed out section for sliding forward and back and then of course the bolt to adjust it. My question is this, how do you adjust this? I was told that you need to gap the belt on the idler, but I want to be sure and need to know the specs if that is the case.
One other question, Clark's garage also states clearly the balance belt tensioner has to tension clockwise, is there any specifics on the timing belt tensioner direction?
Thanks.
P.S. can't wait to drive it again, been 3+ months now.

Look at first picture.
The gap between the idler pully and the pully immediately below is .5mm.
The gap between the idler pully and the belt is "0" to just touching or 1
Or look at post #3

Like shown in the photos above, as you turn the excentric with the thin wrench, the idler moves closer or farther from the properly tensioned belt. I did mine yesterday and found you basically get it as close to the belt as possible or it will be farther than the specified 1mm away from it.

Thank you for your help.
How critical is it that the gap is correct on the idler? Also, how critical is it that the cam tensioner turns counter clockwise to tighten? I am afraid mine is backwards and all is on now, not to big a deal to turn it around, I just don't want to loose tension and loose my marks.

I have all my belts tensioned and ready to go.
The idler is touching the top part of the belt (from the tensioner to the upper balance shaft) and the bottom is set to the clearance specified, is this ok?
