Glad to see another 951 (or soon to be) guy from Indy! I'm just up in West Lafayette (go to Purdue), but I'm originally from Greenwood.

Hope you pick one up and can make it to 944Fest!

I used to own a 1988 Ford Escort GT, many years ago. I loved that car, boy did i run it HARD! I think i went through a clutch in 20k miles and front tires 5k. My farther was not the happiest. I kept that car for about 8 years. Anyways thanks, i just want to ensure i get something nice! Oh, does the 944fest having a swap meet?

Email sent. Not sure if your only looking locally, but just saw this on CL (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/1113935721.html). If it is as the article describes, it seems like a great deal...

That's weird, still active for me. Here is the ad, strangely the year isn't listed.

Super Clean Porsche 944 Turbo/Trade for 928, 968, 911 $6500 OBO - $6500 (Napa)

This is not your average 944 Turbo. Formerly owned by Indy 500 racer Randy Lewis, this 944 has been expertly modified with the best parts that money can buy. Numerous modifications to the car include: Six-speed 968 transission with Quaife differential, Worldwide Motorsports clutch, Big Red front brake calipers with 13" C2 Turbo rotors, stainless braided brake lines, 17" staggered 993 Cup wheels, custom valved 944 Turbo S(Koni) front shocks, Weltmesiter front sway bar, Koni double-adjustable rear coil-over shocks, custom Jon Milledge Engineering rear sway bar, Weltmeister and Racer's Edge suspension bushings, Brey-Krause front strut tower brace, Kelly-Moss Racing adjustable front camber plates, Wrightwood Racing billet aluminum front control arms(Charlie Arms), Autopower bolt-in roll cage, and Sparco Evo drivers seat. The car has recently had major service work, all fluids and filters are new, new window regulator etc., and the paint and interior are in excellent condition. This car has been meticulously maintained and loved throughout it's entire life. This car is really a bargain considering the thousands upon thousands of dollars invested in parts and expert labor. I may be willing to trade for a streetable BMW M3, or Porsche 911,968, 928 or some kind of Mercedes SL Convertible. This car is really clean so please only contact me if your car is in equally good shape!

Please contact me with any questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your inquiry!

Thanks everyone for their posts and advice.

I decided to purchase xsboost90 Porsche for sale, instead of the local car in INDY.

Its a really nice 951 Porsche, Dan was very helpful and very understanding of my questions.

If time permits this year, i would hope to make the 944fest in Ohio.

My new car will need a good wash, clay and wax. To my surprise, the car has very little fading for a red Porsche.

Last note, i have owned several 911's for many years, but for some darn reason i can't keep my 2 year old away from my new car. Its funny, he just loves the back seats. He stayed in the back seat for about 1 hour, with the top out. I had to force him out of the car. I just worked in the garage waiting for him to get out. He just did not want to leave the car! I wish he could take a ride in the car, but the baby seats just won't work on these cars.

thanks, when time permits, after a good wash and wax. I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested.

Hmm, I'm also in the market for a 951 but haven't had much luck over the last few months in finding a decent example in the under $7k range. Any leads (especially in the Northeast) would be appreciated.

Good luck with the new ride!

search on craiglist, Indianapolis, Porsche 944.

The black 951, has a broken od and needs a good wax besides, tires, heater fixed, relays replaced for fans, seats and carpet. There is really no history with the car, but drives really strong.

Most of the items probably could be picked up @ the 944fest for a good price.

The only issue i had with her was the Carfax, OD problems go figure. The car has less than 70k miles on her if memory serves me correct.

I just could not get past the bad Carfax with the bad OD.

If you can't find it, let me know. He has dropped his price to 5700. I believe its worth around $4-5k. He would not go lower than 5500, but he might drop his price now.

PS the car also had no sunroof, rare....

Also if you call, you did not get any info from me about the prices or OD.

thanks jpc

I don't trust carfax it had several errors when we checked cars in at my dads old car lot, plus it lists my personal mustang as a leased vehicle currently, Hell it's a damn racecar and I bought it from the original owner!

badcoupe, I can understand why you would not trust carfax, but to me it also drops the value of the car. If the purchaser decides to keep the car forever, it would not matter. To me, i own cars for about 5-7 years and then get an itch to purchase something else.
Final note, the owner of the black Porsche 944 might had lied to me, stating the OD just broke, but car fax states the OD started having problems 5 years ago. Does not state the OD broke, but enough info for me to pass.

I am glad i was able to find a cleaner car on this 944 board versus finding the black one on craiglist.

chitown944, pictures will come soon. I just need to set aside some time to wash, clay and wax the car. I would hate to show her dirty.
thanks for the interest.

later.
