Charging 944 T battery - volts/amps setting
Hi all,
I managed to shatter my left foot about 6 weeks ago, so I was unable to drive the Porsche Hence she has been sitting on my driveway completely unused, and when I went to start her up again -> flat battery. The DIN55's "eye" says it needs to be recharged.
I've pulled the battery out of the boot, but wondering what settings (Volts and Amps) I need to set the battery charger to use.
Kind Regards,
Dan Corkery

Hi, sorry to hear and hope you are better!
The standard 944 Turbo battery is 65 Amps and can be charged using a standard 20-50 Amp 12 Volt battery charger.
The formula applied to estimate the charging time is: Hours = Battery Capacity in Amps / Charging rate.
For instance, using a charger with a 3 Amp charging rate, the battery should recharge in Hours = 65/3 = 21.6 Hours.
However, I found that leaving it overnight produced a good enough charge to start both my 944 Turbo and a friend's 928 S4.
Don't be discouraged by the lengthy charging time. Faster charging may damage the battery internals.
Good luck with it!
