3..2..1...rant!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the general public is absolutely frightening. We live in a country that has had it's moral ethics and values corroded by a "welfare" mentality. (everybody owes me.) This is directly in contrast with the founding principles of this country. NOBODY OWES YOU ANYTHING!! This country was founded on the concept that you can do anything you want if you work for it. That is what has made it great.

We are now in the age now where people sue McDonalds because their child has become overweight. Personal responsibility has been lost. THAT will be the undoing of this nation.

I am making sure to teach my children they MUST accept personal responsibility for their actions, good or bad.

OK, I'm done. sorry for the rant.

Sorry to hear that the things got stolen. Especially those donut holes... I mean... that's just low...

Even in my relatively low-crime area (at least compared to where most of my family lives in DC), we can't escape problems. Sometime about a week or two ago, one of my roommate's 951 and the other's brand new 350Z both got keyed. No other cars that we could find were hit. But then, there were no other high profile sports cars parked outside, since mine was in the garage.

In some ways, that pisses me off even more than stealing! At least when you steal something, you are trying to gain something for yourself. In this case, it was simply random destruction meant to **** off someone else...

Not that it makes stealing any better...

BB.

I commend you for your effort in teaching your children to take responsibility for their actions. It is truly unfortunate that the majority of Americans fail to do the same. Most of the time, the first thing people want to do after an accident(regardless if it is an automobile, industrial, trip and fall, etc..) is sue somebody. It is never their fault(according to them). Landowners being sued by trespassers who get injured, homeowners being sued by criminals who broke into the homes, manufacturers being sued because their products are used to commit a crime. These litigation-happy losers need bashed with a pipe. Harsh, yes--but I have witnessed first-hand idiots being rewarded for stupidty while hard-working individuals are punished and it infuriates me. Rant off, now looking forward to a relaxing weekend <img border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" title="" src="graemlins/drink.gif" />

James86-951, I am in total agreement with what you are saying. This da@* welfare state is bankrupting California. They just tripled the registration fees for cars from what I heard because of Gray Davis and his "budget". Everybody has their hands out and want something for nothing. I just had 3 radios stolen from my 944s this year and the damn parking enforcement has nothing better to do than to ticket me for having no front plates. Instead of catching criminals, they are taxing the hell out of the hard working people to give money to the freeloaders. I am just really pissed off at people's attitudes. I would vote for caning people who are criminals. Sometimes I tend to agree with the middle eastern laws of chopping people's hand off for stealing. After a couple choppings, I am sure not many people will steal anymore. This really hit a sore spot with me!

I'm sorry about your stuff being taken and the other misfortunes that have been told here, but I have to disagree with the overall statements of "people suck" and "the majority of Americans" fail to take responsibility for their actions.

There are a lot of bad people out there, or people that do bad things depending on how you look at it. But I've come to realize that the vast majority are good people, just out there trying to get through life as best they can, helping other people and contributing to society.

Unfortunately, we only hear about the bad stuff. No one posts OT about the guy who held the door open for you today or the guy who changed a tire for someone. The news outlets are even worse.

Just look at this web forum. A bunch of people who don't know each other, but share an interest in a great car. Of course there are a few AMAFs, but the vast majority are good people that I'm proud to associate with.

Even in crappy neighborhoods, the drug dealers and gangs shooting everything up get all the attention. But there are a lot of good people who just have to live there because they are poor and we never hear about them.

Elf89,
Unfortunately, it is true that we are a negative-based society. You do on occasion hear about the neighborhood that is taking back the streets from the drug dealers, etc. Atlanta is currently experiencing a rebirth of the downtown area. I think this thread was a vent for things they have seen that has made them angry. Maybe we should start a new thread;"Good stuff that has happened today." It could work, but again, we are a negative-based society.

triscadek,
My wife's old company WAS a Jerry Springer episode!! (Best friends wife stealing, cheating, beating, etc.) It was unbelievable some of the stuff that would happen there. I was waiting for the co. to start playing "dueling banjos" over the intercom!!

For my first job I worked at a movie theater. The first night on the job, after training, they called me into the back office to tell me my car had been vandalized. I was freaking out, went outside...someone who quit working at the theater a few weeks before was SEEN on camera shoveling MANURE onto first MY car then the one next to mine before he was caught. MANURE? WHO DOES THAT? The Police were no help...ITS SAD, they had him on VIDEO and a witness took down his license plate, YET NOTHING HAPPENED. Well nothing more than me having the car repainted because of paint chips/dents from his shovel.

Again, WHO THE #$&% DOES THIS?

I still know the guy's name, Matt Campbell...
I'm done.

Robert,
I hope you will not hold this act against all the Campbell Clan. I know quite a few and they are great guys (my family). Seriously though that sucks. I would find this guy and....
